Research at MarineTraffic

MarineTraffic Research seeks to define the future of maritime shipping. It is an example of an industrial research lab where research outcomes affect millions of users in no time. The overarching goal is to build systems and algorithms which can exploit uncertainty and partial truth to achieve robustness and high performance in real world conditions. Researchers and engineers are focused on discovering novel and innovative ways of making shipping safer, greener and more efficient through smarter technologies.

Apart from its broad network of AIS receivers and historical datasets, MarineTraffic has at its disposal a range of marine equipment (such as autonomous vessels, ROVs, and other sensing devices), used on a regular basis in R&D projects for data collection and multi-source fusion, autonomous navigation, field studies and more.
