COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Our Founders: The Dominican Naval Heroes trilogy is made up of commanders Juan Bautista Cambiaso, Juan Bautista Maggiolo and Juan Alejandro Acosta.

Juan Bautista Cambiaso, head and founder of the National Naval Navy, received from the Central Government Board the commission to organize the National Navy, an order he complied with all enthusiasm. He changed with Maggiolo and Acosta during the campaign of 1845 command the "Corvette Cibao, Insignia Ship" squad, among others, established the naval blockade of the north coast of Haiti, thus triumphing the National Army in the Battle of Beller.
On the eve of a fight that would take place with the Haitian troops on the night of February 27, 1844, in the absence of the Father of the Fatherland, Juan Pablo Duarte, his disciples and supporters in the cause of the separation of Haiti, when they proclaimed Independence of the Republic at the Puerta de la Misericordia and Puerta del Conde, where they were among other sailors: Juan Alejandro Acosta, José Antonio Sanabia, Joaquín Orta, Teodoro Ariza, Pedro Tomás Garrido and Fermín González.
The Central Government Board, chaired by Tomás Bobadilla, ordered the taking of the Port of Santo Domingo and all Haitian vessels, and at the same time a commission was appointed to leave Curacao immediately, aboard the ship "LEONOR" under the command of Juan Alejandro Acosta, in search of Juan Pablo Duarte, being the first official vessel of the Republic and the first unit that flew the Dominican Flag overseas.
Nevertheless, historians have consecrated Tortuguero as the cradle and baptism of the fire of our Navy, where three Dominican vessels, the "Dominican Separation", commanded by Juan Bautista Cambiaso, the "María Chica", commanded by Juan Bautista Maggiolo, and the "Leonor", commanded by Juan Alejandro Acosta, defeated a Haitian squad that operated in southern waters.
