Arsène Saupiquet, a native of Cantal, began his career in Nantes as foreman with the tinsmith Alfred Riom . In 1877, he created a cannery specializing in sardines, then founded in 1891 the company of sausage Saupiquet.
The company will grow thanks to three major elements: the famous sardines "Jockey Club", the revolutionary opening system that will allow Arsène Saupiquet to differentiate itself completely, and the innovative advertising campaigns.
