It is an Organization attached to the Ministry for Ecosocialism and Waters (Minea), and was created on June 27, 1952, according to the Law.Its basic purpose, at that time, was to ensure the administration, financing, maintenance, study, construction, improvements and inspection of all maritime, lacustrine and fluvial navigation channels existing in Venezuela. Its focus, from its foundation, is basically centered on the channel of Lake Maracaibo, the entry and exit of more than 80% of Venezuelan oil production; as in the Orinoco River, a channel that allows the output of the material that is produced and exported by the basic companies that make up the Corporación Venezolana de Guayana (CVG). Contributing in this way to the fluidity of commercial exchange, nationally and internationally. An important change arose in 2008 when the new Law of Canalization and Maintenance of Navigation Roads was enacted, allowing our Organization to integrate and update its standards for the best development of the activities that correspond to the navigation channels, in close relationship with other related activities.
