Portishead Point
Description : Lighthouse first proposed by Trinity House in 1929. Submitted and then approved by Estates and General Purposes Committee 12091930. Light was present by March 1931. Light characteristics of Fl310s not shown on charts until Sept 1937. Built by Chance Bros. Co. Ltd. from drawings dated Jan 1931. Fog signal was originally a bell this was removed in 1998. Fog signal is now a horn 1 blast every 20 seconds - this is operated remotely from Avonmouth Signal Station Bristol VTS
