Niels Winther Maritime is a fully independent and privately owned company founded Esbjerg, Denmark back in 1931 but have roots back to the small neighbouring island of Fanø which was a significant center of trading and shipping in the days of sailing vessels.

The company is named from its founder who based his business mainly on ship broking and ship owning activities. Mr. Niels Winther died just a few years after founding the company which was subsequently sold out of the family. The name of the company has remained through the years although the ownership has changed a few times.

The focus of the business was for many years traditional ship broking but especially since the early 1990’s port agency has become a more and more significant part of the company’s activities. Since January 2020 Niels Winther Maritime is part of SDK Groupwww.sdkgroup.com.
