MarineTraffic’s dedicated Data Intelligence team has assisted The Irish Maritime Development Office with the latest edition of the Irish Maritime Transport Economist (IMTE).
The IMTE is considered the leading statistical report for Irish port and shipping industry performance analysis.
MarineTraffic provided IMDO with Historical Data which was then analysed to form part of their Irish market sector report. This included vital information on port calls for cargo vessels at Belfast, Dublin, Cork, Warrenpoint and Waterford for 2015.
MarineTraffic’s Data Intelligence Product Manager, Alex Charvalias, says MarineTraffic is always happy to cooperate on valuable projects such as the IMTE.
“Our specialised data team tracks millions of vessel position records every day, collected through the largest AIS receiver network in the world, blended with a wealth of information from multiple specialised sources. This historical data set has a proven record of providing priceless actionable intelligence, offering quality decision support to the maritime industry,” said Alex.
According to the latest edition of the IMTE, 2015 was a successful year for the Irish maritime industry, with the iShip Index, which measures the total volume of traffic moving through Ireland’s national ports, recording a 7 percent increase.
“Although the macro-economic and socio-political conditions that shape the performance of the global maritime industry are not without downside risks, our maritime industry is well positioned to take advantage of the forecasted growth in the Irish economy in the coming years,” said IMDO Director Liam Lacey.
