Welcome to the Marine Gallery of December 2022, a monthly segment on our blog featuring the five best pictures of every month, selected by members of the MarineTraffic Photo Moderators. These could include images of vessels, ports, or lighthouses from around the world.

This month, we are focusing on the top five choices of different vessel types below:

The Vli-25 Cindy is a 40-metre-long fishing vessel, built in 1989 and sailing under the flag of the Netherlands.

She has spent 181 days of the last year underway, accounting for 51 voyages. The average voyage duration of this fishing vessel is approximately 6 days.

Sailing under the flag of the USA, the Erika Kobasic is a 33-metre-long vintage Tug that was built in 1939 (84 years ago). Tugs are small but powerful boats that assist other vessels into and out of port.

Here, the tug is spotted in Manitowoc, a city on the shore of Lake Michigan, with a rich maritime history. At present, she is located at the Port of Sturgeon Bay. The types of maritime vessels that most regularly call at this port are Pleasure Craft (50%), Tug (3%), and Fishing (3%).

The single-deck Ibis Bulker is an 189-metre-long Bulk Carrier vessel, with a carrying capacity of 57775 t DWT. She sails under the flag of Marshall Is. Bulk Carriers vessels are designed to transport unpackaged bulk cargo.

Over the last year, the Ibis Bulker has made port calls in 11 countries, including China, Senegal, Argentina and Italy.

Ultra-large in size, the RUNNER is a Crude Oil Tanker with a carrying capacity of 158594 t DWT. The 274-metre-long vessel sails under the flag of Greece.

She was spotted at Marcus Hook Pennsylvania, where the main activities of the port are in receiving and refining crude oil, and the shipping of petroleum products.

Pictured above, the Scout is a 64-metre-long Pleasure Craft. These types of vessels are only used for pleasure or recreation.

During the last 12 months, she has made a total of 43 voyages, sailing under the flag of the Cayman Islands. Currently, she is moored at the port of St Maarten in the Caribbean Sea.
