Lay-ups

How many vessels are currently in lay-up in a specific vessel class, or a whole segment (i.e. dry, wet, containers, LPG, LNG)? How is this changing over time, and what is the trend? Where are those ships located in the world, and how long are they in a lay-up state?

Using pattern analysis and clustering techniques MarineTraffic is continuously monitoring lay ups around the world, and providing answers to the above questions through its Lay-ups insight.

Port Congestion

What is the waiting time and number of vessels at anchorage in a specific port, of a specific vessel class, or a whole segment (i.e. dry, wet, containers, LPG, LNG)? What is the equivalent time spent at port? How is this changing over time, and what is the trend? Which are the busiest ports or trade routes in the last month, and how is that changing over time?

Making use of the largest owned terrestrial AIS receivers network, combined with SAT AIS coverage from our partners, we continuously monitor vessels arriving and departing from all commercial ports and anchorages around the world. With the Port Congestion insight, we provide you optimised answers to the above questions.

Average Underway Speed

What is the average underway speed of a specific vessel class, or a whole segment (i.e. dry, wet, containers, LPG, LNG)? How does that speed change in each trade route? How is this changing over time, and what is the trend? Which are the trade routes with the highest increase in fleet speeds?

Combining speed information received from billions of vessels positions, we aim to provide such answers through the Average Underway Speed insight.
