The founders of Albatern have been developing a system that promised more then earlier wave energy systems since 2007.

Albatern was formed in 2010 to take forward the concepts identified and build devices and WaveNET arrays to demonstrate the system in operation.

The company has worked with numerous tank and open water models throughout the development process, and deployed the first working device which successfully produced power for the 8 month test period in 2012.

The first WaveNET array of 3 Series 6 units was demonstrated on a salmon farm site in collaboration with Marine Harvest (Scotland) in summer 2014.

A further pathfinder project to gain further longer term operational experience providing power to a stocked fish farm takes place in Mingary Bay, Ardnamurchan from early 2016.
