Description : The first section was built in 1788 with a height of 35ft and then raised by another 14ft a century later. In 1900 it was raised by a further 12.5ft to its final height with each section being built due to the rising heights of the surrounding buildings. It was eventually de-activated in 1985, when new navigational aids were brought into use, and became a Grade II listed building in 1987.
